First Trip Out! July 4th, 2013

At (nearly) the last minute, we decided to join family at Heavenly Acres Campground in Stanardsville, VA for the 4th of July.
We arrived on the 3rd and came back home on the 5th.

Figuring out where everything will (or won't) go.

Packing, packing, packing.

The storage compartments hold more than I thought they would. :)

A/C Helpers
The A/C is close to the floor, so we clipped in fans to spread the coolness better.

At the campsite.
We put tarps over the tent ends to block some sun and aid in case of rain.

Rear view.

Inside (as we were packing down to head home).

And from the opposite corner.

Being that the original wood was, well...kinda hideous and smelled very much of old wood, we decided to brighten it up a bit with some primer and paint...

Taping...

...and taping...

...and more taping.

The beginnings of priming.

More priming...

...and even more priming.

Priming the cabinet doors and drawers.

...and Paint!

...and more paint.  We chose a color that worked well with the floor and the rest of the vintage decor.

Cabinet doors and drawer fronts painted a complimentary green.

New (old) camper!

So, we were going to buy a tent and associated gear, but then Tracy found this on craigslist...

What a groovy vintage look!

...and just check out the hubcap!
(there's only one at the moment...
we're hoping to find a match sometime soon)

First look inside (remember...it's from 1970)

Don't you just love the color scheme?  Check out the curtains!
While you're at it, have a look at that floor....mmm-hmm!
